Traditional Model-Making or 3D Visualisation?
Until now, developers have faced a difficult choice when considering how best to pre-visualise their new developments. One option is to have a physical 3D model constructed by an architectural modelling company – a real, tangible, solid model to have on display in the sales office, a miniature version of the site that people can walk around and touch.
The other option – and the one we would usually recommend - is to create a virtual reality 3D model and output photorealistic 3D fly-throughs on DVD, plus static images for the brochure and website. We often receive calls from developers and architects that are having real difficulty choosing which method would be a better way to show off their development. But recent breakthroughs in technology have made this decision a thing of the past!
Physical 3D Models created from our Virtual 3D Model Files
3D Printing turns computer-generated 3D designs into physical models in full colour and to scale.
It is now possible to create detailed and accurate ‘real’ 3D models from the same ‘virtual’ 3D files we use to produce fly-throughs and visualisations. This process is called 3D Printing and enables us to create realistic, full-colour physical 3D models from the 3D data contained within our Maya scene files.
3D Printing technology means that 3D physical models can be produced in a fraction of the time and the cost of traditional model-making methods, and have the advantages of better geometric accuracy, enhanced surface finish and fine detail resolution.
So, in addition to a highly detailed and lifelike 3D fly-through on DVD, you can now have:
- a physical model of an entire development site
- tangible models of each house-type
- a ‘roof-off’ model showing the internal layout of a new building (inc. furniture)
- a physical model of any other kind of 3D object
